So, if you read my post yesterday, you know that I'm looking for the perfect paint color for my entry hall and great room.
As with my search for my old favorite paint color, Brandon Beige, "the perfect color" for a room is often elusive.
As promised, I took my 3 trial paints and painted areas of my great room to test the colors at various times of the day.
There is only one that is even a consideration - Revere Pewter! The other 2 I didn't like well enough to even add a second coat of paint.
Revere Pewter paint behind lamp.
The second paint color is Revere Pewter. The 1st and 3rd colors are too "yellow" in this room.
The 3 paint colors on the wall that juts out about 1 inch and separates the kitchen/breakfast area from the seating area of the great room.
Paints #1 and #3 look a lot better "on camera" than in person!
I've decided to try another color that I used in my home in Charleston, WV. This paint, Tapestry Beige by Benjamin Moore Paints, is on the same paint deck as Brandon Beige. I'm also going to try two Pratt & Lambert old standby colors that I refer to as "Tulsa Taupes" - Phantom and Lambswool. These colors became very popular in Tulsa in the late 80's - early 90's and are great neutrals. (MH and I were living there at the time.)
I know this seems like a lot of work but this will be a paint job that I can't do on my own. The ceilings are too high and will require scaffolding - something that I do not have! So, before I PAY to have someone paint this large room, I need to be certain that I LOVE the color. Once it is painted, I have to live with it.
I'll let you know how the new prospects look. Again, wish me luck. My walls are looking like they have a skin disease!
Au revoir, Mitty
