So I think I found a great paint color!
I tried paint sample #4, Edgecomb Gray (Benjamin Moore)
and
Paint Sample #5, Lambswool (Pratt & Lambert)
In the seating area of my great room, in both natural light and ambient light and, at all times of day and night, I like the tone and warmth of Edgecomb Gray. I've decided to repaint the kitchen part of the great room (which has a small wall that juts out as a very subtle "separation" of the great room) in Revere Pewter. Edgecomb Gray is a grey/taupe color that has warmth and depth but will not make the room appear dark. Revere Pewter is a deeper, richer color. The two colors should flow well and the transition from area to area in the great room should be smooth.
Revere Pewter is the 2nd color on the "wall" above that separates the kitchen area from the living area of the great room. The color that I've chosen for the living area of this room is the 4th color down on the wall, Edgecomb Gray.
Wish me luck. I got my first quote for painting this large room on Friday. I'm getting another quote on Monday. I may end up putting my Big Girl painter's pants on and getting to work painting it myself. If it was not for the vaulted ceiling, I would have started on it this weekend!
Take care and thanks for letting me think and work through this process with you! I hope it will also help you when you change paint colors in your home.
Au revoir, Mitty
Hey, Mitty! Colors look beautiful...so glad you found some! I have a GREAT painter, if you are wanting to keep those big girl painting pants stashed away. He is the one that refinished Hadley's furniture, which was my furniture growing up. He is very professional, reasonable & very talented (he's an artist). His name is Vito Finazzo & his number is 817-466-8954.
ReplyDeleteHi! Do you mind me asking what color the third down is?
ReplyDeleteAmber, So nice to hear from you. The third color down is Benjamin Moore "Stone Hearth." I love the color but in my room, in my lighting, it took on too much of a yellow. Good luck finding the right color for your space. Mitty
